Avevo
In realtà ci
aggiungiamo l’assoluta inabilità a
guardare senza interruzioni film come L’Esorcista
Some days ago - after seeing the Valentino haute couture fashion show
for the next fall-winter - I had made the plea on Facebook. Now I try to
restate it: “Maria Grazia Chiuri and
Pier Paolo Piccioli, please could you
adopt me?” At my age I could be at most your sister but it’s not necessary to subtilize.
Actually I’m thinking about it from time immemorial but the combination
Wunderkammer-Valentino-Mike
Oldfield-Goblin has made me capitulate. The cabinet of curiosities - where from
Sixteenth to Eighteenth centuries aristocratic collectors gathered natural
monstrosities, corals, insects, shells, sublime human creations, taxidermied
animals and every unique oddity in circulation - is one of those things that make
me clam up. If we add the absolute inability to watch continuously movies like The Exorcist and Profondo Rosso and the consequent charm of their disturbing music
we would have the drop that makes the proverbial vase overflow. The new embodiment of the roman maison’s ethereal
creature has removed the last glimmer of reason. And like the rarities of the
ancient wunderkammer also the outfits on the runway are unique. Suits with
skirts and capes, hourglass silhouettes, simple dresses turn out to be
enveloped in a deceptive sobriety - among herringbones, checks and brown - on
which baroque oddities insert themselves:
leoni di marmo su
cappotti e tuniche asimmetriche,
marble lions over coats and asymmetric tunics,
meraviglie naturali incorniciate a mo’ di ex
voto in un mare di pizzo,
natural wonders framed like an ex voto by a sea of
lace,
rami di corallo sparsi a profusione su pellicce e
vestiti sensazionali,
coral branches scattered on furs or dresses,
