ElectroMode: Moonlight Matters/Peter & The Magician/The Knocks & Fred Falke: l'invasione Kitsuné

Kitsuné ci regala sempre soddisfazioni. Un roster di artisti che si rinnova continuamente, grande varietà di generi e una ricerca costante di talenti. Una semplice ricetta per un risultato mirabile. Sembra che solo in Italia non si siano accorti dell’importanza dell’etichetta parigina. Nella capitale francese, a Londra, a Berlino, a New York è usuale assistere più di una volta all’anno a un Kitsuné party. Nel Bel Paese non è praticamente mai successo, eccezion fatta per la passata edizione di Villa Aperta.

La label fondata da Gildas e Masaya ha voluto fare le cose in grande per l’estate 2012 con la pubblicazione tra giugno e luglio di 3 Ep da conservare gelosamente nella propria biblioteca musicale.

Kitsuné never disappoints. It can rely on a simple recipe: a continuously updating musicians’ roster, genre-eclecticism and a constant research of talents.

And yet in Italy the inventiveness isn’t appreciated. Every year (more than one time) there are Kitsuné parties in Paris, London, Berlin, New York. Everywhere, but not in the homeland of Giorgio Moroder.

The label, founded by Gildas and Masaya, has just published 3 outstanding Eps. You can’t miss them!

Il primo, licenziato all’inizio del mese scorso, è Come for me di Moonlight Matters. Chi legge ElectroMode sa benissimo che Sebastiaan è uno dei nostri preferiti (qui l’intervista). L’ex componente dei Villa non è solo un eccellente remixer; è anche un ottimo producer. L’Ep è semplicemente “fresco”. Gustaph degli Hercules And Love Affair presta la voce per la title-track. Si tratta di un pezzo house anni ’80 - ’90 con una chiara matrice old school. Se fossimo stati nel 1984, l’avremmo ascoltato nella colonna sonora di Beverly Hills Cop.

Standing Up for Love – con la partecipazione di Starving Yet Full degli Azari & III – reca un’impronta rétro, marchio di fabbrica di Moonlight Matters. Il sax a metà brano è da applausi.

Rain Dance ha un lead grandioso e presenta una linea di synth ipnotica che emerge progressivamente.

The first one, released at the beginning of the previous month, is Come for me by Moonlight Matters. Who reads ElectroMode knows Sebastiaan is one of our favourites (here the interview). The former member of Villa isn’t just an excellent remixer; he’s also a notable producer. Come for me is fresh. Gustaph of Hercules And Love Affair features on the title-track. It’s an eighties-nineties house track with an old school background. If we had been in 1984, we’d have listened to it in Beverly Hills Cop’s soundtrack.

Standing Up for Love – with the contribution of Starving Yet Full of Azari & III – has a rétro mark, Moonlight Matters’ seal of quality. At the mid of the track an emerging sax deserves just handclaps.

Rain Dance presents a magnificent lead with a mesmeric soaring synth line.

Memory, secondo Ep di Peter & The Magician (dopo Twist, risalente a giugno 2011), è appena uscito. Peter – si sa – altri non è che Pierre-Alexandre Busson aka Yuksek. Anche in questo caso stiamo parlando di due dei beniamini di ElectroMode. Il genio di Pierre-Alexandre si unisce all’inventiva di Stephen. L’effetto finale è dirompente. I due si sono incontrati due anni fa al Calvi on the Rocks (uno dei migliori festival electro in Europa) e hanno deciso di produrre qualcosa assieme. Altro che Brodinski! Il gemello del gol di Yuksek – per stile, ispirazioni e affinità – è l’illusionista belga, non certo il buon Louis con la sua musica dozzinale.

Memory (sia nella versione originale sia in quella club) è una killer-track. L’influenza disco – comune a entrambi i producer – è evidente, il beat electro incalzante è il loro biglietto da visita. Si sviluppa così un pezzo “palleggiato”, da ballare in spiaggia al tramonto o durante un pool party. La sua forza è la ripetizione, affidata alla linea di synth e alla voce.

L’Ep è completato dai remix di Le Crayon, NSFW e Poindexter. Il voto di ElectroMode va al secondo, ai suoi bassi profondi e alla sonorità balearic.

Memory – second Ep by Peter & The Magician (after Twist) – has been just released. Peter is Pierre-Alexandre Busson aka Yuksek. Also in this case we’re dealing with two of our darlings. The genius of Pierre-Alexandre mingles with the creativity of Stephen. The outcome is shattering. The two guys met at Calvi on the Rocks (one of the best electro festival in Europe) two years ago. Brodinski? No way, the goal-twin of Yuksek – if you consider style, influences and affinities – is the Belgian conjurer, certainly not Louis with his carousel-music.

Memory (both the original and the club version) is a killer-track. The disco inspiration – shared by Yuksek and The Magician – is evident, the persisting electro beat is their business card. Memory is a warm-up song, you have to dance it on the beach at sunset or during a pool party. Its strength is the repetition, it’s a continuous synth line-vocal-refrain.

The Ep is completed by the remixes by Le Crayon, NSFW and Poindexter. ElectroMode gives its vote to the second one, to its deep basses and balearic sound.

Sarà licenziato il 23 luglio Geronimo, Ep firmato The Knocks insieme al maestro della french house Fred Falke. The Knocks sono due ragazzi newyorchesi che per anni hanno lavorato come producer per Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Marina & The Diamonds.

Geronimo è una bomba a mano. Bassi potenti si miscelano all’inconfondibile tocco di Fred. America ed Europa s’incontrano per dare vita a una traccia pronta a invadere i club nei prossimi mesi.

L’Ep comprende anche i remix di Aylen, Lenno e Louis La Roche.

On the 23th of July Geronimo, Ep by The Knocks and the master of french house Fred Falke, is gonna be published. The Knocks are two New Yorkers, who have worked for years as producers of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Marina & The Diamonds.

Geronimo is a hand grenade. Powerful basses join the unmistakable magic touch of Fred. America and Europe meet to create a track, ready to sweep in the clubs in the next months.
